My name is Jason Dowell and I’ am a senior at Foothill Technology High School. I heard what happened to you and the situation you are in right now and I agree with you that you are doing the right thing. I think carrying the baby till term and giving it to a loving and caring family was the right decision to do. I’m very pleased with your actions that you did not get an abortion when you had the opportunity to but were able to make a realization of what you were doing and decided to keep it.
Now which doesn’t seem like the most appropriate or humane thing to do for some people is get an abortion. Carrying a baby for so long at such a young age seems like the only answer that sticks out the most is to get an abortion. Some people argue to just keep the baby all nine months and give it up for adaption when its ready but during those nine months it really impacts your body and it will never be the same ever again. Also the mother could get attached to the baby but the mother might not live in suitable living conditions for the baby or she might not be finically stable and be able to give the baby the things it needs. Another thing is that being a teenager means that you are self-conscious and care a lot about what other people think about you. Getting an abortion eliminates the possibilities of being harassed and mentally scared through out your life.
With abortion comes people constantly fighting about if its humane or not or if it should even be illegal or stay legal. Another frequent argument over abortion is when the deadline should be and its no longer legal. Some believe that it should become illegal when its considered a human while others argue that it should be legal no matter what the age of the baby should be. Mothers should be able to do whatever they want with their body because it is their body and its not owned by anyone else and no one call tell them what to do with their body. In Roe V. Wade, backed up by the 14th amendment and the right to protect your privacy, the Supreme Court ruled to give women the decision to have an abortion. Many people do not realize how expensive and difficult it can be when raising a child and how even more difficult it can be when being the only parents. Sometimes the better thing for the parents and child is to get an abortion because it’s a possibility that the parents or parent wont be able to provide for the baby.
What I believe you did was the best thing to do. While others disagree or agree I’m also open to another option such as abortion. It is completely understandable to me why you would not want to carry a baby with you for nine months because that impacts your body in many different ways. Now with an abortion I’ am in between if I believe that it should be illegal when the baby is considered a human or if it should stay legal now matter what trimester the baby is in. Why I believe this is because we don’t know what the other person is going through and if they want to abort it after nine months then let them. It’s not us and if we aren’t related to them in any way then it shouldn’t affect us and we should mind our own business because it’s their own body. I also believe that it is a little inhumane to abort a baby when its considered a human being because it’s a human and who knows what it could grow up to be and what it can accomplish.

You thought it through and gave the baby life and it could grow up to being an incredible successful human being. I believe that you acted very logically and carefully and people should learn from you if they are ever put into this situation.
